MARIEL ANNE MILLER
Name:
Mariel Anne Miller
Nickname:
Mare, Mary, Marie, Ana
Age:
15
Gender:
Female
Species:
Shifter
Group:
Roan
Animal:
Siberian Tiger
Special Ability:
Mariel is capable of making anyone feel lost, physically or mentally, and completely paranoid by willing it at them from a place she can see them. To be targeted by this is an immensely unnerving experience, and after the initial shock of it, they may see flashes of her eyes in their subconscious as if she were haunting them.
Level:
n.a
Appearance:
Mariel is a tall, brown haired girl. Her face has a thin look to it, as if her cheekbones were gently pulled inward. Two hazel eyes with a ring of dark blue add to her features. Her ears are covered in black and white streaked fur and are shaped like a cat's. They protrude gently from where human ears would generally do so. Her dark hair covers these, except for the parts where the white fur is thickest and shows boldly. This is a reason she wears a hat around most of her targets, new and old. When she blushes, a pattern of tiger fur shows on her skin. Though many different brands have been tested, none of them can completely conceal this feline trait.
Her Siberian tiger form is many more pounds than her human weight, a more muscular figure by far. Thick brown and white fur covers her body like a second skin. Mariel is nearly indistinguishable from a typical Siberian tiger. Her eyes are similar to that of her in human form. She stands at 5 7 as a human.
Personality:
Mariel is a relatively sassy teen. She believes that the Roan is correct in almost all matters. Her style to a battle is to pretend you've got the lower end of the stick, and use the confidence of the other person to make them make mistakes. It is her custom to practice fighting with wolves--a despised animal-- for skill. She prides herself on being something of a trickster. Mariel has a fierce aversion to canines, whether they are shifter or natural born dog. She generally dislikes those who outrank her, and always feels them as competition. Mariel's greatest fears are becoming blind or deaf. She fears no torture or torment, only the thieving of her senses. Mariel doesn't let people get away with insulting her, and has grown accustomed to transforming a single paw to slice someone's cheek. She has a difficulty making friends, but the ones she does make she's extremely close to. Her bite is often worse than her bark, although she has a good control on her actions, and is mentally disciplined.
History:
1-5
Mariel was born to two parents who thought themselves as normal humans, or so Mariel's father thought. Mariel's mother was a Siberian tiger shifter as well, but had completely turned this knowledge away and had not shifted in over 25 years. She had passed for a normal human all of this time. Mariel's mother called her Ana, meaning 'grace' or 'gracious." She derived this title from Mariel's middle name, Anne. Mariel's mother was named Alicia and there was no doubting her love for her daughter. Mariel had an older sister, Erin, but she knew nothing of her power to shift until Mariel had her first episode.
6-9
Mariel's mother died during the time she was eight, leaving her daughters and husband unaware of any shifting gene, but also distraught and heartbroken beyond anything the three had ever imagined. Mariel was in a state of shock, of disbelief. Such things happened to other people, but not her. Never her or anyone she knew of. Being with her father didn't give her the same amount of comfort she'd experienced with her sister or mother. Mary also was unaware of any relatives she might have, and this still remains the same. Marie attended a boarding school from ages 7-15, but does not now.
10-15
Erin was three years older than Mariel, and when Mary was 10, Erin began to shift in her sleep. Mary used to fall asleep with her sister in the same room as they were immensely close. Mariel knew that when Erin fell asleep on her 13 birthday, she had changed into a wildcat. Mary didn't know whether or not to speak of it, and so she said nothing of it for about a month. She then told her dear sister about her late-night changes, and Erin told her that was impossible. Neither mom nor dad had any shifter in them. They came to a cold realization that their mother was such a creature. Mariel became scared, and stayed home from boarding school starting two months before her birthday. Erin wasn't sure what to make of her changes, and they frustrated her to no end until one day she changed when she was conscious, bringing her into a dream-like state while in the form of a Siberian tiger. Mary hushed her, as she was home. This was about a month preceding the younger sister's birthday. An hour and a half later, Erin had become human again and was asleep on her bed.
Mariel's first change was not unpleasant; she was home with Erin, her father being at work. Mariel walked around the house normally, scouting for her kin. She felt as if this form was an extension of her human form. Upon entering the room with Mariel, Erin changed as well. Erin changed into a slightly larger cat, but shared similar markings. After a few more instances of this, Mariel was able to control her changes, and her control grew over time until she could change on a whim. Erin changed when put in the presence of tiger-Mary, but also when she became so irritated with something that it took her over. Erin never felt as alert as Mariel in tiger form, but had some sense of feeling and movement although it seemed to flow together and her memories of such experiences felt blurred.
